Mohd Nasrull Abdol Rahman was the winner of the 2012 Dieter W. Jahns Student Practitioner Award. Mr. Abdol Rahman, a PhD student at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), is the third recipient of the Dieter W. Jahns Student Practitioner Award. The award was presented to Mr. Abdol Rahman by Dr. Halimahtun Khalid, President of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society – Malaysia, at the NIOSH Ergonomics Seminar, November 27-28, 2012 in Dewan Sri Johor, Malaysia. The award included an engraved, acrylic award plus a $500 check.
Mr. Abdol Rahman won the award for his project: Development of the Exposure Assessment Tool for Assessing the Exposure to Physical Risk Factors associated with Work-related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSDs). The objective of his project was to develop a new technique for using the exposure assessment tool, Workplace Ergonomic Risk Assessment (WERA), for classifying physical risk factors associated with WMSDs. He stated, “I'm honored to be the 2012 recipient of the Dieter W. Jahns Student Practitioner Award. It inspires me to contribute to ergonomics knowledge on the health, safety, and productivity in the workplace. Finally, this achievement will motivate me to do further research work in the ergonomics field."
